Getting my V800 today!

I have an old PayGo sim card, that I want to use to test things out until my new sim is activated. Anyone know if I have to call customer care to provision it for 3G ?

ALSO, do I need a 64K sim for the V800 aswell (like those of you that use the data card do) ?

Thanks!

After a couple of hours with the phone, I must admit that it is quite OK.
Haven't had chance to test the battery life yet. One of the things I DO dislike about it, is the Vodafone interface, would've preferred the standard Sony Ericsson one, but this can be fixed with a software flash (still wondering if it will void the warranty).

One gripe tho, when I'm connected via 3G I can't seem to load the Vodafone Live page, the connection just fails every time. Works perfectly via GPRS.

I might be exchanging it for a new one, under the 7days <15min talk time policy. I have a gripe with a rather large and visible dust speck between the glass covering the screen and the screen itself. It might be petty, but things like this REALLY irritate me. What do you guys think ?

Change it NOW! The laminations between the elementsof the screen are seperating. I had an Ipaq that did that. It looked like flysh1t all over the screen within a month. Nothing I could do about it.

Hmmm... will go exchange it tomorrow. I am entitled to an exchange on this correct ? I am not paying R4000 for something that isn't perfect.

You have a 7 days (15 talktime minutes) warranty - Use it!
Its a factory defect. So stick to your rights.

You might want to read this thread on my issues with the V800 http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=19197

FYI - The discussion with Vodacom and myself are still ongoing. Either to fix the buggy V800 software loaded on it or try the Z800 software and see if it would solve the problems. Either is fine.

I bought the phone on 08/04/2005 @14:44:49 (Credit card payment - file all your paperwork) It's been almost a month and a half since I bought it.

Since then there hasn't been a new firmware released to adress a single issue I reported. I claimed a factory fault at the Vodashop I bought it as required within 7days (the 15 minute talktime is not applicable since the call timer is still on 00:00:00) They couldn't issue me a replacement since the replacement would include the same defects. Eventually one of the staff members politely told me that he/she (gender neutral to protect the individual) can no longer persue the issue for fear of losing his/her job.
