Getting Neotel (Bedfordview)...why shouldn't I?

My experience so far with the Neotel Prime device...
Youtube web streams download like a charm no buffering at all well downloading at around 150 kbs..
200 kbs on well seeded torrents - never got this on DSL.....

And things have improved in the last 5 hours or so..

RichardG means kiloBytes per sec not kbps (kilobits per sec) :)

150kbps is only 3x dialup.... :)

The guys at PostNet Eastgate said only the light version is covered in this area, I'm hoping the email support gives me a different answer...I can't wait any longer, I'll just go dial customer service now.

Hope my dreams for uncapped aren't shattered/postponed

Are you nuts? For R1000/month?

Its becasue of ignorant people like you we stuck with these ridiculous prices.
We'll never see a cheap internet in this country unless we stick together and say enough is enough. We want affordable internet. They will never drop their prices unless we give them a reason to.
Many people expect prices to drop when SEACOM arrives. Dream on.
Why should they? Many people are just happy with what they getting now.
So people wake up and ignore their products untill better priced. They will have no choice but to drop the price at the end.

you dont call the person ignorant if he wants to get something expensive. its like saying 10 people buy a xbox and 1 xtreame gamer buys a xbox 360 , does this make him ignorant? no its just what he wants because he would get more out of it so dont call people names:mad:

Neotel sound like scumbags. That;s as bad as IBURST recently and TELSCUM.
They're all worthless.... disgusting.

found out it's not for free. If we want to move to premium, we have to terminate lite, which cost us R40 x months remaining.

this sucks

I heard the following if your area only covers lite, and when prime is available in your area one can upgrade free of charge....

Contact the support centre rather order from them..

slight update: Teboho from the customer service, yes, he made sure I get to know his name, phoned me today to tell me that they know I'm not happy with the whole upgrade policy and that they are escalating it in order to solve the problem.

Nice people, not scumbags after all, are they? Ok, without mentioning the prices.

Neotel are nice people....
They do read the forums majority of the staff, and they do try their very best in order to help....

Just one thing that needs to be addressed is port forwarding A.S.A.P..
I think once that can be done things should run smoothly :)
And a big thumbs up to Neotel Support Centre for listening to the customers :)

They are taken note of everything.
Firstly If you going to sign-up for a Lite package, I would recommend you do not sign-up for that package, rather sign-up for Prime package, or either contact them.. Tell them you seriously want a technician to come over to your house to test the Prime device, I am sure they will be gladly to send him over..("Please do not steal the device") And if you not covered, ask them to bring an antenna with them to maybe test If it makes a difference :)

Best of Luck....
Neotel rawks :)
