Hi,
to start off with I'm sure that I am quite a noob and there is something that I am clearly doing that is freaking retarded.

For DAYS now I have been trying to make my netgear rangemax connect to the net, but it just wont..
When I try install it manualy it just never connects, and when I try to use the auto install it asks me what my isp's ip and subnet mask is. I HAVE NO CLUE!
10.0.0.2? 255.255.255.0 I donno???

any body know what on eart i must do>

Well 10.0.0.2 is your router's ip. (that what you type in to get to the router interface)

1) I assume it is in Routed mode?
2) Did you enter your ISP user name and password?

What is the manually and auto install referring to? Is it installed onto the pc, can you access it? (10.0.0.2)

Or are you referring to dial up manually (bridged mode) or via automatically via the router (routed mode)

yip as kiepie confirms:

1) make sure your ethernet/wireless lan ip is in the same range as the router for starters (if dhcp doesn't work) ex 10.0.0.3 mask 255.255.255.0
2) try to ping the router 10.0.0.2 (if that is the ip)
3) on success - access the web interface
4) if in routed (default mode) you just enter the isp username and password , apply/save settings and restart.
5) then you just modify your ethernet/wireless lan tcp/ip properties to include the default gateway and dns to 10.0.0.2
6) that should have you surfing!!!

-if for some reason this doesn't work :
*make sure the router does have sync - light should inform you
*if in bridge mode (shouldn't be) - create a new broadband (dsl) pppoe connection from within xp/vista to result in a "dialup" shortcut then.

Netgear product will be 192.168.0.1 for the router, mask 255.255.255.0. I have found the "getting started" guide to be pretty idiot proof. No offense meant. Try and reset the router by pressing the reset button on the back for 10 seconds, while powered on. then follow the getting started guide.

Ive followed that guide and it is suuper easy..
Until it tells me that my isp should have given me an ip and add and subnet mask add and that I should add it it now.
Then I just go WTF are you talking about...

Usually the only IP it wants is the DNS server IP. If you leave it blank then it should work....if it doesn't allow you to leave it blank then use the IP from the router (192.168.0.1).
