What tips can you share for getting up in the mornings? From the moment my alarm clock goes off, it takes me around one hour to actually get up.

You should stop thinking about suing your parents, friends and dogs and just jump out of bed when the alarm sound!

Snooze is the worst invention ever. Every night I used to go to bed thinking I'm gonna ignore the snooze button in the morning, but it never happens.

What I've found does work is not to have your phone or alarm clock on your bedside, because it's too easy to hit snooze. Rather leave them on the opposite side of the room so you're forced to get up.

Move the alarm clock and if its a phone alarm set the signal to something annoying like a justin Bieber song so you are forced to turn it off no matter what.

Do you ever think that regular sleep hours is an unnatural man-made construct? Dogs for example doze off all day long.

Drinks lots of water in the evening before you go to bed. This forces you to get up nice and early :D

Yeah, but then I remember that's the reason most dogs don't become doctors.

I used to live near a railway line.
I don't hear my alarm, it's my wife poking me in the ribs to turn it off that does the trick.

Get an Android phone and install AlarmDroid, set it to use an equation to turn off the alarm, requires some focus to actually turn off and by then i'm awake :P

Set the alarm and put it out of hand's reach.

Or this if you really hate yourself

Rig up some kind of cold water container over your head. You'll only need it once and then you won't have trouble waking up.

Try this. Worked for me. When the alarm goes off. Get up. ... sounds easy ... after a few weeks it is.

Putting the phone in another room works for me. But I'm going to try AlarmDroid, at least then i'll have something to look forward to when the alarm goes off!

There's an interesting TED talk about this by a sleep researcher. Apparently humans are geared to sleep from 20:00 to midnight, then lay awake for a few hours in a "meditative state", then slept again from around 02:00 til sunrise.

This assumes being in reasonable proximity of the equator.

If I lay in bed after my alarm has gone off I'm always late.

So I set my alarm for the latest possible time I can and get up the second it goes off. Then I usually stumble over to the shower and wake up.
