Gettings up quickly in the mornings

Grow older quickly so that you suddenly appreciate ever second that you are alive cause there's not may more left :D

This is what I used to do when I struggled with this. Now I wake up at 5am and I need to be at the bus by 5:50 so getting up isn't a problem :/:

I would hear the alarm clock and then if I knew I was going to struggle to get up I'd start a slow countdown from 10 - 9 -8 etc, then exactly at 1 I would push myself out of bed. I can promise you it never failed.

alarm is set for 5:30am, went to bed at 2am <-- might be the problem.
This morning I pressed the snooze button 6 times, that last 9 minutes of sleep is always the best. enjoyed almost a whole hour of it

Download that alarm app where you have to do a math calculation to snooze or turn off the alarm. Better yet. If it rings, get out of bed immediately.

What works for me - get a dog, it learns what time you get up... then when you don't get up at that time, it wakes you up.

Mine has the habit of coming to investigate why I'm not up yet at 4:45 on Saturdays and Sundays...

This should work...

not my dogs - they are not what you would call 'morning people' they will sleep till I wake up, then go out quickly for a wee, come back in and sleep again. they are most active at sundown, they actually make us crazy in the evenings

I keep headphones next to my bed. When the the alarm goes off I force myself to plug them into my phone and play fast music loudly. Wakes me up instantly

Do you ever think that regular sleep hours is an unnatural man-made construct? Dogs for example doze off all day long.

Could be, I could easily sleep 10-12 hours, not including naps during the day :D

Get an Android phone and install AlarmDroid, set it to use an equation to turn off the alarm, requires some focus to actually turn off and by then i'm awake :P

That's the most diabolical invention I've ever heard of.

Too much effort :D Much easier to just put your alarm on the other side of the room.

The yorkies we have are like that, the smallest one really struggles to wake up, he gets up and finds somewhere else to sleep until we leave and boot them out.

The BRT wants you up at the same time everyday - once you get up she takes your space in the bed.

Didnt work for me. I end up plugging in my headphones and I go back to sleep

I'm a little late to the party, but here's what works for me:

1. Bedside lamp plugged into digital timer, set to turn on about 10 min before I'm supposed to get up.
2. Moisturising eye drops (like Cellufresh or something similar - available at Clicks) for those mornings that my eyelids feel they're glued together. Amazingly, your eyes can dry out while you sleep. Then, because they're irritated and won't stay open, it makes you think you're more tired than you are.

Both of the above help, but 1 is particularly helpful in the winter. :)

Those are both good ideas. I keep a glass of water by my bedside. When the alarm rings I drink some of the water (it forces me to sit up, which sets a chain reaction of morning functions off).
