Is it true about the first time 10 hour charge thing?

Also, shes on a R150 pm Vodacom contract, does that include unl browsing and email?

Thanks.

RTFM!! Lol.. OK I meant RTM.

If there is any wisdom in this first time charge for 10/12/24 hours etc, it would be in the manual. Amazingly, I have never seen it appear in any cell-phone manuals I have read. I think it's a load of BS, and don't ever do it. My battery life was always normal - no problems.

It is BS! Do a search on Lithium battery care, the battery cuts of the charging when it's full anyways. Worst situations for lithium battery's is heat, and if it fully discharges. Always keep it above 10% and if you store battery's it should be at 40%. And you can do a fully discharge every 3 months or so in order to restore the virtual memory that it can build up.

Remember to use the browser, not the vlive, and yes, unlimited browsing & downloads. Next step: get yourself one so you can pin each other crazy!

wait hold up, vlive IS the browser right? or do you mean click on the globe icon instead of the red vlive icon? :) God if its so easy to screw that up why put the two a few millimeters away from each other?!

Sad news, she can only use browsing and email and make calls from the 1st, phone has to be activated...

Crappy saffakanera :D

I'm persuading my wife to grab one from VC as well (the speed seems to be sorted at the moment)

I think what they may be nattering on about is:

In your blackberry browser under options, there is an option called "Browser" that can be set to 1 of 3 things. Internet Browser (which uses BIS and is free), Vodafone live! (that is not free) and Hotspot Browser (which uses wifi if you're associated).

Also remember to set "Switching to WAP for streaming media" to off under General Properties or any youtube etc that your gf may watch will run through WAP rather than the free BIS

Hope I'm not leading you horribly astray here :D

Install Opera Mini - much better browser than the pre-installed browser.

This can be activated earlier by a simple call to VC. I did this and they activated a temporary BIS which then expired at day before month end.

Activated the New BIS for the new month then.

You will be billed pro-rata.

Be sure to go into the Menu > Options > Advanced options > TCP/IP > and tick APN settings Enabled > APN : blackberry.net and leave Username/Password blank to ensure that the only access will be via BIS.

Enjoy your BlackBerry :D
