Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project aka roadworks.

Ok I'm just as gatvol of all the roadworks as everyone else, but does anyone actually know what exactly the end result will be? I see on Sanral's website that in some places there will be 4-6 lanes, but exactly which parts of the highways around Jhb & Pta will have how many lanes??

What I want to comment on is the fact that there are already pacthes where they "tarred" the cement highway where it is going bald... idiots.

What i'd like to know it when the N14 is gonna get some attention as its slowly starting to fall apart... especially between Pretoria and the brakfontein (N1) interchange.

Funniest thing - we crap off now and they say "it's for the better in the long run"...yet we're going to be tolled all along on the N1 (and I travel from 14th Ave all the way up to Samrand Ave). So maybe it'll be better...but it's going to cost more too.

Ah well...I guess someone has to pay for all those lights they're erecting - and it's us poor sods again.

I'm in total favor of those lights! :)

I'm also for the lights - provided they work all along the highway! I just wonder what sort of toll fee we're going to have to fork out daily for this pleasant (hopefully) moving experience. Also how likely is it that we sit with the same or even worse congestion a year or two from now?

0.30 cents per km is what I read a while back.
My concern is what are the back roads going to look like when everyone is trying to avoid the toll roads?

Yep, I got a chip too - can't believe it's only 1 though since i hear them hitting HARD all the time (bout 10 in the last 30 days)

Yeah I don't understand why it's taking so long! instead of paying 30 workers to work for 10 months why not pay 60 workers to work for 5 months!

I only see ONE area being worked at a time? it's called multitasking Sanral!
