GFX card not working properly...

I have...there is no jumper config on the mobo itself as far as I can see. Even with the cables connected up in their correct manner it still detects it as the slave drive. Ive tried my old XPsp1 cd and at least it tried to install but once again Im getting this problem again:

So this card is now installed in a completely different system (Details in this thread) and giving the same F-in problem

Ideas...? Already tried updating the mobo bios with no effect....:confused: *sigh* This is seriously aggravating.....

Which at least means the GFX card is fine. I reckon the problem lies with XP.

I reckon you're right. And thanks for the links ponder...appreciate it:) It seems that old XP versions (eg. sp1) don't recognise pci-e or something like that. I need to install at least sp2 onwards (Wish I had bloody win7 now...aaaagh:))

Download nLite and slipstream the service packs into your xp install cd.
 
lol, too quick for me... thought i was actually gonna be able to help someone in time for a change.... you are right, this is a software issue i have had with many different systems and more recent GPU's from nvidia's 8800 series and ATI's 3000 series cards. Just run windows update and get the latest version... this should install the required hotfix/hotfixes to sort the problem. For interest sake some systems suffer from the BSOD (usually ATI) and Nvidia cards usually result in a stall of the GPU with a popup stating that "the driver for this device has stopped working and has been recovered." At least in my experience.
