Hi.
I've had my Gainward 7900GT for about 8 months, it has always ran cool but now its starting to run a little bit hot (63") and in certain games (BF2142) it artifacts when it gets hot :( Its in a Thermaltake case with sufficient circulation, the CPU temp still cool. Can anyone recomend a good aftermarket fan for my gpu? dont really feel like upgrading quite yet its still a decent pc, athlonX2, 2gig etc...

kthnx

Zalman cooling is the best....It'll cost you +- R400

Remember - It's summer, your temps WILL rise

yeah i was looking at the zalmans, any one in specific i should look at?
I kinda figured that it is because of summer, gets kinda hot here in East London

brawler take it back man, they wil swop it out for a new one

will the warranty still be good if you add your own cooling?

Your warranty will be screwed when you take of the heatsink

63 degrees isn't bad for a high end GFX in summer time....My 7600GT runs between 55 - 64 degrees in summer, it's just one of those things

O and killadoob, take that card back and tell them you wanna swop it cause it runs 63 degrees, they gonna laugh at you cause as I said it's perfectly normal

Is the card maybe factory clocked? Cause artifacts only show up when the frequences are a bit very high, maybe the heat but minimal

Maybe it can be your LCD's pixels that looks like artifacts to you (that's if you have a LCD )

i dunno hey depends if the gpu is under load

my 7600gt runs at 41 degrees idle

63 idle is very high

brawler do what i do to tcool my hdd's when i play i run a standard air fan into the case :)

hdd temps sit at like 27 and my gpu never reaches 47

Holy moses killa, never exceeding 47 on a 7600GT at this time of the year is hiperbole

Are you sure of those temps? What brand are you using? How many case fans do you have and are they blowing in or out?

I've got the XFX XXX edition and it's clocked quite high (I think it's the highest factory clocked 7600GT) and maybe that's the reason why it's running that hot but I don't get artifacts and $hit like that

Got a XFX7800gtx 256 and it runs idle 55 and under load 62. This is more or less normal from what I heard for 7800's with stock cooling

hahahahaha my humble x1600pro is over clocked( mem: before-693mhz(its the ddr3 edition) after-814mhz, the core: before 500mhz, after 623mhz) and it runs at 53 degree's while playing battle feild 2142, and i think there might be dust in the cooling fins... and don't be worried, most ati's run at that temp.

thnx again scotty for absolutely nothing.

@ killa, cant really swap it out as the supplier is now a aupair(with BMW 645ci) cruising around boston :D

@fudzy its stock, forgot to mention.

But ja i dont think its the card, my room does get rather warm so i think i will get that cheaper zalman see how that works.

sorry um ya, this is the problem in south africa, IT'S SO DAM HOT!, um the clicks fan thing does work quite well, and if you dont wanna risk replacing your current cooling on the card or don't wanna spend R300+ and a after market cooler, then try using a fan. iknow alot of people who do it.
But on the other hand you maybe one of those people who think looks are very thing then get a zalman with a funky blue light.
