Does anyone know if one can buy a GHD (hair straightener) at Edgars? Yes, I'm too lazy to go there now. :o

Well, my wife bought hers a while back, and when we checked at Edgars, they didn't sell them.

Just a warning: There are a lot of fake GHD's doing the rounds. 2 people I know of that have bought fakes, 1 from a well known electritronics store and the other from a chain of salons in Jhb. You can verify on the GHD website.

GHD can only be bought from a salon. Personally I would advice you not to waste your money on a GHD - too many fakes and overpriced product. Keep in mind that your going to have to also buy GHD products as thats they real secret, not the iron.

Consider the competition like GSG (half the price but the same iron - long story short, GSG and GHD have the same origins).

But if you want to spend the cash, best price for a GHD is R1650 cash (thats cost plus VAT + 10%) - you wont get cheaper than that.

* EDIT: My wife has a salon and we don't stock GHD as its overpriced (and we need to order R30K a shot to keep it on our shelves). We stock GSG and have been very happy with the product. When customers do want GHD, we gladly send them to another salon (who are selling at R1650).

You still have a lot to learn in the way of the GHD, tiny grasshopper. :p

He's not buying it for himself, he's buying it for the SO. Ergo, any argument based on functionality goes out the window. If it doesn't say GHD on it, it would be as worthy a gesture as buying his GF faux-diamond jewellery. It pretty much says "I hate you and you're not worth spending money on."

Sloot, go here dude: http://www.ghdhair.com/za/salon-locator?PID=PRO-020&CRE=150&PLA=1

There are 20 GHD salon retailers in the CT area. It even has a nifty map to show you where + contact details.

Ha! Someone who understands the situation. I sure has hell don't need a flat iron :o And there's also a reason why I asked if Edgars perhaps stocked them. I'll give you two guesses, no wait, one. :D

Ghd is not a waste of money... Its a quality product. My gf jas had hers for over 3 years. She uses it regularly and its still like new.If she got a cheaper one it would she would have probably replaced it..

My gf has had her babyliss for about 3 years and it cost R450. As far as she's concerned it does the same thing as a ghd without the stupid pricetag. Not that she'd say no to a ghd of course..

My wife has owned a number of the cheaper brands over the years. She always felt that they worked well, until her niece used a GHD on her hair a few months ago. Suddenly we had to spend R1699 (approx) on a hair iron. My wife is still adamant that its worth every cent.

In my wifes opinion, although the GHD is an expensive product, it works better than anything else she has ever tried.
I tried to convince her to buy a Tony & Guy for about 20% of the GHD price, but her mind was made up.

Now that i think about it, i have spent many thousands on gadgets and my pc over the years and not once have i been moaned at about how i'm wasting my money and should rather buy the cheap one, because "it does the same thing". Yet i do exactly that to my gf...sigh, feels like sad, selfish panda now. Hope the guilt doesn't last too long...
