Gigabyte PSUs any good?

non "GT" Odin PSUs are their normal/budget range. But don't forget, the non-GTs display their PEAK wattage, not their actual. I have the 585w Odin, but it's actually a 460w (it's on the sticker on the side) so keep this in mind if you are going to purchase the 400w Odin, it's prolly a 320w or something.

But for your PC the 585w should be fine, my specs are similar to yours (^^)

The only good PSUs from Gigabyte and Thermaltake are the GT and Toughpower series respectively. The rest of the stuff they make is total crap.

That Vantec PSU that was recommended is a good buy, you get a thing called a molex to SATA adapter too

If you're looking for a cheat power supply look at the cooler master 460watt.

Got a 300W and it's been working for about a year now, quiet and cool... some Odin thing i paid R500 for.

just remember the cheaper Gigabyte PSUs are made Acbel. And coincidently this is the same company that makes the cheaper Coolermaster PSUs. So if you think the Gigabyte PSUs are crap then you should also think that the Coolermaster PSUs are crap. And Coolermaster does the exact same thing of listing the peak power output. They're basically selling the same PSUs in different packaging.

Cheap coolermaster PSUs are crap :p but I love my CM iGreen 600W cont. 700W peak :D Can't remember who manufactures it, let me check...

So all cheap PSUs are crap . Guess I'm getting a crap PSU then.:p

Mine is an Acbel as well it seems. Never had a component die on me in the past 3 years with this PSU so I'm not judging :p It has 80+ rating though with Active PFC.
