So last night my PC just went off, I could immediately smell that something had burned. I opened it and it seems that the PSU burned out... (hope nothing else was damaged)

Can anybody tell me if Gigabyte PSUs are any good? I am looking for a cheapish 400 - 500 watt PSU.
Currently looking at one like: http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/product_info.php?products_id=19260 (GIGABYTE ODIN 470W)

The one that I currently have is a Thermaltake Purepower 480W Butterfly.

Thanks.

What you running? I wouldn't put that odin under a lot of stress but it should be ok for a basic system. Otherwise see if your psu is under warranty perhaps.

Thermaltake to Odin is called a Downgrade IMO

They are too new in the market - their PSU's are overated iirc...

The lower end and mid range thermaltakes are absolutely useless. There have been so many reports of thermaltake psu's blowing up. I remember DJV saying that he had 1 or 2 that caught on fire.

Bought a Cooler Master Extreme Power 500W a long time back. Its still running strong in a friends PC. Maybe consider that range of PSU's also.

EDIT: Didn't know that Odin GT PSU's had gone up by so much O_O got mine for R1400 from Rectron a few years back.
