I ordered ADSL and planning to connect two or more pc's on my network. The one will be wireless. Is Gigabyte 11/54Mbps 802.11b/g Wireless Router good, fast and stable ?

What do you think about the Billion 7100G, 802.11g VPN ADSL Modem/Router ?

Which one will perform the best ?

Anyone out there with hands on experience ?

Thanks

Which Gigabyte router? Be carefull when you buy a "broadband router" not all of them have built-in DSL modems, so you'll have to buy a seperate modem as well. I have the Giabyte B49G AP. It's not the best, it has a few arb tricks now and then. DLINK seems to be pretty good, but I've never worked with one myself

I can't vouch for either of those. I'm using the D-link DSL-G604T and am very happy.

4 x Ethernet plus b/g wireless plus DSL. Pretty easy to set up too.

I think the Billion 7100G is the way to go! I have been using a 7100G in my office for almost a year now without any trouble. It’s got great features and is easy to setup. Great value for money!
You can download a datasheet from the Billionsa.com 7100G site if you want a full description of the 7100G.
If you need even more functionality, take a look at the new 7402G on the Billionsa.com site. My friend has bought a 7402G and has not looked back!

NetGear DG834G is another option, very stable with Telkom ADSL line, we use it more than one year, never had a problem.
Billion 7402G also quite good, but newer in SA
http://soholink.co.za has got both of them, guys there quite helpful

Thanks for you advice..

I think the Billion price the best at the moment.

How easy is it to configure the ethernet side of things ?

Hi charlesayl,

You are making the right choice with the BILLION 7100G. I am glad to see the great interest in BILLION. We will be here to support you all the way.

Set up is really easy. You can test drive the configuration menu of the BILLION 7100G by clicking here.

The DHCP server is running by default and as within the 192.168.1.0 subnet.

You can disable the DHCP server of the router and also assign a different IP address to the BILLION router if you are running a network on a different subnet already.

The default settings of the BILLION is for quick and easy setup to manage the network as well - you actually just need to access the Quick Start menu and enter your ISP details.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice.

I will probably go for the billion and place my order in the next day or so. I still need to decide where to buy this modem.

Do anybody know here which is the most reliable site and quickest to deliver ?
