ok, so if i get a gigalan hub, will i have to change lan cables as my entire house is linked to a 100Mb hub, but all my pc's have gigalan ports, so if i purchase a 8 port gigalan hub will i have to redo all my cabling, or will the same cabling work?

if my same cabling will work, then where can i purchase a gigalan hub?

The same cabling should be OK, if it is cat5 and properly installed. Gigalan (I caught it too now) is less tolerant of any problems that could exist on your physical cables. The best option would be to check each card for errors (dropped packets etc), if there are none, then upgrade the switch, and check again....

a) it will work
b) there's no real reason to have that speed @ home

Anyone know of a descent "gigalan" cable tester heard majority of cat5 cables dont function at 100mb because of bad crimping

i cant remember what cabling i purchased, i mean i have +-200m worth of cabling running around the rooftops and underground lol

A proper tester will cost you thousands of rands. The cheap ones basically just check cable pair mapping, breaks & shorts.
