I think more people should give telom a chance. They are really trying to be competitive with their prices.Last month they drastically reduced their prices on their iPhones. You can now get a iPhone 5s 64 GB on Smartplan 100 for R399 pm.At Vodacom it is R809 pm on Smart M.:wtf:

They also released the S5 mini at R299 on Smartplan 50 and R339 on Smartplan 100 while Vodacom charged R399 pm on Smart S.This month they reduced the price even further R259 Smartplan 50 and R299 Smartplan100. Now this phone is actually a good buy. The S4 mini and S3 mini is also discounted.I always thought the S3 mini were overpriced everywhere now it is R99 pm on Smartplan 50.Vodacom asks R199pm on uChoose Flexi 100.Ouch.

The prices of the flagships also came down.Huawei P7 on SmartPlan 100 dropped R30 pm.The Xperia Z2 also dropped R50 pm.You can now pick up a Galaxy S 5 for R359 pm on Smartplan 50.Vodacom charges R499 pm on Smart S.

Telkom is really having a sale of the century.

I agree that Telkom Mobile is insane value for money.

How's the data coverage? I have a 10GB for R200 contract (no roaming), and I love it for home, but it is useless on the road because of shoddy data coverage compared to Vodacom.

Wifes been on them for two years, not an issue. She got the S4 at the beginning of the year for R329 a month + a gig of data which works well. I am sitting paying Vodacom the same price and get a massive 200megs of data and the phone was not even anywhere near an S4. Will be porting when my contract is over in November.

I have the same deal i have it in my tablet and use all over jhb and now in cape town no problem, and i am using it on a multi-sim...great...

they certainly have improved alot, and alot of that dare i say it, was when they moved from 8ta into Telkom instead of beind separated

Let me know how that goes. I may decide to port from MTN. The amount of data the big two offer with contracts is pitiful.

There seems to be some confusion about the new Telkom deals.I made some enquiries at a Telkom shop yesterday.I had thought that the 6 months of unlimited data applied to all SmartPlan 100 deals but were told that it only applies to those deals that have the green dot that says unlimited data in the brochure.

The salesperson also tried to sell me their new ASUS Fonepad deal at R99 per month for 500mb day data plus 1.5gb night data.Told me that the 500 mb data normaly costs R95 ,so for R4 extra you also get the night data plus a tablet.Looks like a good deal only problem she were clueless about the specs of the tablet and the tablet is not on telkoms website yet.Wonder if it is the same tablet that CNA is selling for R 1699?

Not forgetting the more than 3000 Telkom wifi hotspots at shopping malls and airports round the country!!

I really love having an extra 10GB to use when I'm at my local shopping mall or waiting at the airport.

Actually surprised that it's not advertised more, as it's incredible value for money.

Thank you Telkom!!

I did my bit in preventing them from sinking today, by investing in a mammoth R49 SIM card, 200MB / month :p (that's the old SIM they still had in stock, which has been replaced with 100MB for the same price, or 200MB @ R99).

I buy these SIMs (2nd one pre-loaded with data) so they can go into the smartphone for a year, and I don't need to keep topping up with airtime & converting to data each month, as the phone's used on Wi-Fi 99% of the time, anyway.

So a note on Telkom website that unlimited data applies to all SmartPlan 100 deals.

Only certain smartplan 100 deals, the ones where you only pay R100 or so don't apply. Seems to be the bigger smartphones

The website says otherwise.Go To Telkom website and click on View our mobil deals. Then ypu will see a moving ad banner thinghy. The first one brags about bing voted best mobile data provider. The second one is about a R99 pm tablet deal. The third one says Go big this summer with unlimited data on all SmartPlan 100 deals.

10GBs is more than enough for a phone. He'll I'd be fine with just 5GBs on my phone.
Yeah I am happy with the 5GB on my phone but I don't use it on the phone only - i have a 2x multi-sims for my modems...

That wasn't the point though. I am just pointing out at what is meant by "unlimited"

Happy that they say unlimited instead of uncapped. Should also change that with ISPs.
