Giving notice when emigrating

Good luck dude!

Hit me up if you have any questions. Btw, whereabout will you be moving to?
Trondheim for now where her family is. We're planning on taking our time to decide on a final destination, more than likely a bigger city like Oslo and the like as the company I'm working for has a few branches and allows work from home.

Standard notice period is 30 calendar days. I was waiting for my UK visa to be approved so that I could write my "goodbye letter" and give it to my boss. Got my passport and visa back, only to find that they had started it a month earlier than what I'd specified in the application, so had to resign the day I got it - with 2 weeks notice. Boss understandably wasn't impressed but there wasn't much I could do under the circumstances.

Edit: for those who are unaware, long term UK visas are no longer stuck in your passport. They issue you with a biometric residency permit when you get to the UK, and issue you with a temporary visa for clearance at the border. The kicker is you have 30 days from date of issue to get to the UK to collect your BRP - or you have to start the application process all over again.

Ah congrarts! Trondheim is beautiful...AND on rare occasions you also see the northern lights down there.

I don't care much for Oslo, but I could see myself maaaaybe living in Trondheim if I ever absolutely had to move to a city. Trondheim is still a 15hr drive South of here though. I currently live in a tiny town of 10k up in the arctic.
