The countries with the best Netflix libraries — and where South Africa ranks

South African Netflix subscribers have access to a better library of movies and TV shows in the streaming service's catalogue than those in the US.

Price comparison company Uswitch combined the IMDb scores, award wins, and awards nominations of the TV shows and movies in each country's library to see which offered the best content based on quality.

I was expecting a VPN ad at the end of this. YouTube has hurt me before.
Do any of them work anymore? I know the smart dns service I've used for years has failed dismally in circumventing the block.

I used to use services to access other libraries - but I soon realized the difference wasn't always as large as made out. Plus, there was content available on SA which wasn't on US .

My Nordvpn works fine for the UK library - which is the best bet for me personally.

I tried NordVPN last year. Their US servers were almost always detected by Netflix. I had better results with their UK servers though - it would work about 60%- 70% of the time.

I haven't tried other VPN or Smart DNS services so unfortunately, I can't comment on their effectiveness.

Best is to pop nordvpn support a DM on twitter and ask which servers are best for the service you want to use.

Had similar issues with another provider and Nord support replied within a minute and provided specific servers and those have worked well

I no longer have an active subscription but thanks for the tip . It will probably help others reading this.

When Netflix successfully stopped me from viewing US content and thus the few shows I paid them to watch, I cancelled my subscription.

My SmartDNSProxy still works with US Netflix?
Or are you speaking about the VPN part of SmartDNSProxy?
Does it? When I have it running (the smartdns not vpn) every show is a Netflix "original" which means I'm in the global catalogue.

Judging by their twitter and FB feeds I'm not alone.

Which movies is in the US catalogue, not part of the global catalogue?
I want to check on my side...
EDIT: I can watch "Colony", for example.

Pretty sure Colony is global. It's definitely available as part of SA's catalogue.

Try the series Criminal Minds.

Eish, I cannot find it. Seems to be a problem now.
I never noticed it, it was almost like something changed without me noticing...
So, it seems that something failed on SmartDNSProxy's side, or Netflix that upped their game against geo-unblocking...

Happened a month or more ago. TBH you’d be better off turning Netflix off in the settings.
