It's 1 April. It should be mid spring. And it's snowing outside my window. I know living in Switzerland means living with snow but seriously? I live at 470m above sea level it's not like I live in the Alps. Hmmmpppfff. Guess I have to find my waterproof boots before I go to work. :p

I think when they came out with the name global warming it was rather silly, basically not every single place on the planet will warm.

Global warming will affected countries around the world in different ways, some will get hotter some will get cooler, some will get more rain some will stop getting rain. Global warming affects the climate and nobody can tell as yet what that affect will be but i have read they predict Europe will get cooler and possibly go back to the ice age.

Again most of this is just speculation.

"Global warming" is a misnomer from the initial days when the phenomenon was discovered - the correct term nowadays is "climate change", which is a much more accurate name for what is happening to our planet.

Europe is estimated to cool down during "GW"
Indeed Global Warming is a stupid name, just like the big bang.
Straw + berry.

Ya climate change is far better because global warming makes people think every country on the planet is getting warmer :D.

I always thought the term global warming came from the fact that more heat was being stored in the higher atmospheric zones by the released heavy particles which keep the heat up there. This caused the weather to be messed up down here..... but this was how i made it make sense in my head :P

Climate change is a myth. Look at the climatic trends over time that we have been able to measure, this global "increase" in heat is not abnormal, it is part of the natural cycle.

You're a myth. See what I did there? I just made an assertion with no supporting evidence whatsoever. Fun, isn't it?

"Look at the climatic trends over time that we have been able to measure, this global "increase" in heat is not abnormal, it is part of the natural cycle. "

how is this not evidence?:) .., we all know that climate change is more of a political change than a scientific fact.... sure human beings are being cruel to the planet, but who cares.

I see you're just making up "facts" too.

IT IS exactly because i am, that i am skeptical. I havent really seen any conclusive research to ascertain that we are the cause of climate change. how are they able to distinguish between natural earthly cycles in climate and our influence on it. All i have been hearing is climate change climate change and that we must mend our ways. however they do not attach any evidence. sure i have not read any journals but one can explain things in laymen terms.. it all just seems rushed. I am for cleaing up rivers and banning of toxic waiste into seas and lakes and such. If the UNFCCC can explain things in a way that people can understand how it is effecting the world they may accept it.

How exactly can one be pro-science, while denying the mountains of scientific evidence on a particular subject?

Because there is mountains of conflicting evidence, and evidence that those making the claims were politically motivated?

Such a "consensus" reached so quickly is very suspicious in science anyway. Usually takes far longer, and even then there is always debate that further improves our knowledge of the subject. That climate change is placed on a pedestal and apparently immune to any criticism is even more suspicious.

Perhaps you should do a little reading on the subject then. There is a lot of very accessible material out there. http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/05/start-here/

Show me these "mountains of conflicting evidence". Or the "suspicious" global consipracy that all the climate scientists are in on...

In contrast, humans are currently emiting around 29 billion tonnes of CO2 per year (EIA). Human CO2 emissions are over 100 times greater than volcanic CO2 emissions. This is apparent when comparing atmospheric CO2 levels to volcanic activity since 1960. Even strong volcanic eruptions such as Pinatubo have little discernible impact on CO2 levels. In fact, the rate of change of CO2 levels actually drops slightly after a volcanic eruption, possibly due to the cooling effect of aerosols.

We are also cutting down forests at an alarming rate and that is adding to the problem. Believing we are not causing the planet to warm only serves to make people feel good. There is no doubt humans have destroyed the natural balance of the planet with our pollution and destruction of forests.
