Gmail gets blue ticks

Google is rolling out a verification feature for Gmail that will help users determine whether a sender is legitimate or a scammer, the company announced.

When Gmail users receive an email from a verified source, they will see a blue check next to the sender's name in their inbox.

Ja it's pretty easy to spot the scammers already

I don't really get this. Let's say I'm scamming people using an email that's @FNB-accounts.com.

“The sender of this email has verified that they own [the domain was sent from] and the logo in the profile image.”
So I register the fnb-accounts.com domain, verify to gmail that I own the domain and get my blue tick. Now what? People are even more likely to trust my scam?

So when BEX hits your supplier / client, the blue tick will not appear for the messages sent by the scammer?

So, if I send you an email from gmail it won't have a blue tick neither will an email from my account at xyz(service provider)dot.wherever so wtf does this help in any case??

It helps you feel more comfortable with a scammer using your client or suppliers bluetick account to scam you.

Will it cost 8 dollars

Lol... it will cost any company way lot more than that. Just go check all the requirements. Besides, seems this is not a Google service anyway.

You also have to go through the effort to document that you own the trademark or IP for the logo that is displayed in the avatar area.

If you do that, you're committing fraud.

This is going to make for a very interesting time for ad companies running services, like Mailchimp, as part of the advertising for a brand like Intel. Whose tick gets displayed? Who gets verified in that chain?
