Gmail outlook POP

Hi i am helping someone with outlook and gmail getting error in picture below

everything worked fine till a few days ago
access to less secured applications enabled -> did not work
created password for outlook via 2 step verification -> did not work

password is correct , as when i change password i get different error

I am moving my emails from Telkom to Outlook.com & Gmail, due to severe problems I had with Telkom email during their many months of upgrading their email service. I was unable to get POP email set up with Outlook.com and gmail, despite entering all the settings they stipulate. I use Thunderbird as an email programme, which may be the problem. So, I resigned myself to using IMAP with both Outlook.com and Gmail, and keep emails on my computer (which is why I wanted the POP setup) by transferring all emails I want to keep into local folders that can be set up in Thunderbird. I also think an IMAP setup uses a lot more Gb, because the computer and smartphone are always syncing with the servers every time you open email programmes on them.

gmail has a setting to allow untrusted apps. Outlook falls under untrusted apps.
