Anyone else use Gmail? Is it just me or is Gmail HORRIBLE with iBurst? For the past 3 weeks or so, I've been downloading at 3kB/s from it. It takes me a year to log in and when I finally do, the pages time out. Who else is experiencing this?

GBM, I use gmail all the time and even though it has been slower during the daytime for the past 3 weeks so has ALL my browsing as I stated in another thread.
Right now gmail is working as fast as normal and so are all other sites, so from that I'd say there is/was nothing wrong with gmail at all.

Actually, i was downloading an attachment earlier on today and the speeds were horrific. Dunno why, but they seem to be back to normal.

Same thing here. It wasn't DOG slow, but it's flying now...

NO problems for me - iBurst and Gmail. Though I access iBurst only at night after work.

My browsing seems to be fine. Downloading at 80kB/s +, yet attachments or images from Gmail go at 3-5kB/s.

I've also had problems with accessing my GMail account using ADSL [IS & SAIX] as well as Vodacom HSDPA, in particular where loading often stalls, Chat often doesn't work, sometimes doing basic things like replying & archiving fail or take ages to complete, sometimes I get a stalled script dialog box popping up in Firefox.

I can only imagine what this must be like on an iBurst connection, having said that I don't believe it is a GMail problem - probably just SAIX trying to route packets through LooLooPoo to get to GMail's servers...

I forward my Gmail to my iBurst mail account so that it POPs off really quickly. You can still keep a copy of the email on your Gmail account which you can access anytime. If you want to keep a copy of your sent mail in Gmail as well use smtp.googlemail.com as your outgoing server and specify SSL encryption as the security method.

For the mailer I'd suggest using Thunderbird or Evolution and not a Microsoft product as we all know they're kinda dodgy :)

Why not just setup the Gmail POP details directly?

No problems with accessing Gmail for me at the moment- although downloads are a little slow.

POPing from the states is rather slow but POPing from iBurst is damn fast seeing you're connected to their network and thus not using their Internet links ;)
