I Dont know if this is posted in the right place but why dont they make a local link to gmail and other online services thats used by many south africans? like the news servers they have it mirroring giganews:confused:
 
the answer for R1mio is - cost of bandwidth in south africa.
 
The internet is usually called "the world wide web" for a reason.

How boring would it be if everything is only in South Africa?

In computing, a mirror is an exact copy of a data set. On the Internet, a mirror site is an exact copy of another Internet site.

Yes, I know what he was suggesting. The fact remains, as bwana points out the obvious below, it won't help even if he suggests it, because it will be too big. Think about it, then Russia, Iceland, Australia etc. needs a mirror for each service on the internet, that deviates from what the "internet" actually is.
