GNOME 3.8 Released

Nice. Look like some really nice updates, especially the animation speed improvements. Would like to see it in action and Ubuntu could definitely use some of this, Unity is slow as molasses.

i have tried Unity, KDE and Cinnamon but always revert to Gnome. It gets the work done.

Gnome 3.8 has been released an it has a classic mode https://help.gnome.org/misc/release-notes/3.8/

I'd like to give classic mode a whirl but it seems I'll have to wait for Fedora 19 beta end May (alpha's a little too bleeding edge for my taste):

There is no simple way to upgrade to Gnome 3.8 currently. The chances a simple method to achieve this on Fedora 18 will come up are slim. To quote one of the fedoraforum.org users:

"Since the Fedora release cycle is closely aligned with the GNOME release cycle Fedora would rather you just test F19 if you can't wait 2 months."

Have to say that I feel more at home with Gnome 3 than 2 these days though, F14 feels very clumsy now. :)

Fedora 19 Beta has been released, downloading now.

I'll be test driving it over the weekend and provide feedback on the new features in Gnome 3.8 when time permits.

Busy installing F19 Beta on a spare system but only keeping half an eye on the progress, the installer displays some educational homilies at the bottom of the screen and I just spotted:

"I'm Sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that" :wtf:

... it's gone now and is displaying other homilies as the install continues, now I don't know if the Fedora devs have a sense of humor or I missed something important
