Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS Released

Looks nice. I have an 11" notebook sample that would be interesting to test on during my leave.

It seems that the delay was developing the new Rust-based Cosmic desktop environment from scratch. Some online have said that it makes real work easier than Gnome, but obviously this is a personal preference thing.

One of the main features of the OS has always been their option for an Nvidia specific download with the support for hybrid graphics built in.

Have been kicking the tyres on Zorin since a couple of people have been asking me how it is. They make the Nvidia installation really easy. Since it includes the Ubuntu prime/optimus stack the hybrid graphics support is also good. We just need Wayland to fully catch up on hybrid graphics now.
 
Tried it. Doesn't do a proper job of a dual-boot install (2 x O/S on 1 SSD).

Once you go for this option you cannot access your Win 10 partition and it will forever boot into Pop!

Be warned! (I tested this a few times = same result - fortunately used a totally separate SSD (cloned my existing one) to do the testing on.

Gave it a pass.

Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.2 does the job perfectly, with minimum fuss.
 
I didn't get that problem.
The boot manager gives you 10 seconds to choose Windows or Zorin
The files created by MS (Word, Excel,. etc) are visible under Zorin as a separate partition

Previous Windows programs like IVMS4200 which manages HikVision devices works fine with the latest version of Wine

I've had so many annoying bugs with Nvidia drivers on Linux, went back to AMD and all those bugs are gone.

From screen turning off after 10 seconds, to suspend not working properly and just restarting my session after waking it was a major PITA.
