If you want KDE and stable your only real options are Fedora and MX.... for less buggy and less features there's is regular MX with XFCE and Mint with Cinnamon.

The only reasons I stick to MX with KDE at this point is Dolphin file manager and KDE's superior though sometimes buggy multi level task bar..

I dunno, some see it differently - prepare all that in advance, put the release date forward rather if necessary.

Doesnt work with open source.... one moegoe spots a minor change and the horses start racing.
 
Upgraded all my devices. Only issue I had is Thunderbird moved from deb to snap and the migration doesn't migrate your mail/ settings. :mad:

Fix was easy though.
 
Thanks for all the replies guys. Ill do a bit of reading. I remember installing Nvidia drivers and running WoW using wine years ago (fun times), seems like things are a lot easier.

Looks like Mint might just be less effort at this point in time.

Depends what you're looking for longer term.
Been using Ubuntu for I think over 3 years (always used Dos / Windows before), some irritating learning curves and needs some willingness to dive in the deeper end.. but have become very happy and won't change again.

See post #2 for great improvements coming.

Main concern I've seen seems to be resources. I'm using Ubuntu 18 on an ancient laptop and must admit that's slow, but ver. 22 is great on this older PC - i3 with 8GB RAM and main drive is a SSD. Ver. 24 will do just as well.

Mint always sounded too lightweight. Also it lags behind so based on previous Ubuntus.

It turns off telemetry.... and does not use gnome. Of course it's more lightweight :ROFL:

Also it turns off snap which is only useful for enterprise.

Main reason I ubuntu, and yes the software manager sucks.
 
Ubuntu as a server always works well for me, hardly ever touch it once its up and running.

Not sure yet as a gamer if ready to go the whole Linux Desktop gaming route.
 
About the only other Ubuntu thing still a worry for some seems to be available hardware drivers, has that improved enough?

Thunderbird has some really stupid settings, annoying to find.
