Due for release today :- )

I see https://releases.ubuntu.com/ still only offers 24.04 LTS Beta this morning, am I just being impatient and should wait until tonight?

Or, if best to let it auto download is the local or main server best, or perhaps something like sleeping New Zealand?

Not really for me - got a free long term Pro support offer for 5 PC's when I first jumped onboard (still don't know why :))

I though of going for the Beta while waiting on this PC, but don't really want to get back into doing s/w testing.

You can always live dangerously with the development version....

and report the result via the exit code
--allow-third-party Try the upgrade with third party mirrors and
repositories enabled instead of commenting them out.

Should update my PC, still using Kubuntu 20.04.06. Might do it next weekend.

@gotaway , just a fan of the ZX81 or did you use one?
I got started with its predecessor, the white with blue keypad ZX80.
 
Nice, both Fedora 40 and this are looking like solid releases.
 
So still just the ISO fresh install version, no upgrade via terminal or GUI yet.
The https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop version is also an ISO image copy, badly explained there. There's some mention of "a few days" about something, maybe applies... whatever.

Size is around 6 GB

I'll be sure to revert to type, download and install in a VM, look around for 7 min and then never open it again.

LTS is first build every even year (so far that's regularly in April).
Interim builds are every 6 months in-between

There are 2 types of Ubuntu releases: Interim and LTS. Each Ubuntu LTS is maintained for 10 years total: 5 years of standard support + 5 years of ESM. Interim releases are maintained for 9 months.

"ESM" basically means extra support, the Pro version.

Im planning to install Linux again, but need to decide which distro. I used to run Mint with KDE and loved it, but Ubuntu is always an option. Thoughts?
