Well, I'm already having trouble running newer version of certain apps as some of the libraries used by my install is out of date.

Have been running this in a VM. Seems to be solid, especially for something so early on in the release cycle. Still want to try the new OneDrive integration in Nautilus, but have not got up the enthusiasm for doing productivity related stuff over the weekend yet.

So I installed Ububtu this weekend and its been smooth sailing. The only annoying thing I had was updating the Ubuntu Software app, but I just did a refresh from terminal after killing the correct process. I have Nvidia drivers up and running as well as a few other apps such as PrusaSlicer. Interesting ly enough I could not get PrusaSlicer to install from the files I downloaded from their site, but it worked flawlessly from the Ubuntu Software app.
One interesting thing is Im greeted with a warning saying that one of my harddrives is about to die after every restart... soooo I guess Ill have to remove it sooner than later.

I think the Software app was one of the things being improved in the upcoming build. But if you do end up with its issues, especially if also using other repositories, reboots usually help and to avoid doing any main system updates in all but the actual native Ubuntu app.
But let's see if others handle it a different way.
@rambo919 , how long has it taken before, from LTS "release" to upgrade via app? Already 4 days (although I suppose it was the weekend).. :-/
Can't you mount the ISO and do an inplace upgrade?
Who knows. Wouldn't try it even if, I'm too rusty these days and have quite a few sensitive apps I wouldn't want to redo.

Found random anydesk issue that irritated the hell out of me till I removed anydesk from my startup (unable to click top right of screen). Strange how the same issue has been around since 23.1

Eventually decided to do a clean install on the laptop, also moved from Kubuntu to Ubuntu. Happy so far.
Not upgrading any of my VMs yet. Would rather get another ProxMox server up and running before upgrading VMs

Dunno I don't track Ubuntu specifically.... for most distro's it can take a week, for major base changes it can take a bit more depending on complexity.
People forget that especially between LTS releases it can be problematic to do in place upgrades.
That only works for Windows, it's annoying but in Linux typically you cannot use ISO's for upgrades because of the compression system.
Why go that far anyway? I trust the delays are for my protection, will rather wait and learn to be patient :- )Since its Linux, can't you recompile it to allow it to upgrade from the ISO?

What I'm monitoring at least daily;
Device 1 - has the default Snap repository (orange folder) AND Apt (Gnome) repository (white folder with 3 coloured dots).
Device 2 - has the default Snap repository only. This should be the first device to get an upgrade to ver 24 notification.
I also choose to monitor the main (US?) server, not the SA server (which could be a bit slower but I don't know).
If any of you are with any other repositories included; could need to monitor beyond.

Can only think to say SA mirrors can take longer to be updated sometimes.... For MX Linux I usually stick to GB mirrors.
After testing Ubuntu out on an old family laptop, the main reason I opted for Fedora on my personal gaming and productivity desktop was because of Ubuntu's buggy and frustrating fork of Gnome Software. Seeing as their new in-house software centre seems to be one of the major improvements in 24.04, I'm considering switching my desktop at some point. What have been people's experience using the new software app?
That's been my only real dislike of Ubuntu, but found ways to deal with it well enough.
You're likely asking too soon, 24.04 is so far only available as a new install, not yet as an upgrade from 22.04.
Long delay suggests some general tricky new issues.
Oh, I didn't know that. Interesting -- the long delay does raise an eyebrow. I'd really like to support Ubuntu, because I think Canonical is still among the leaders in making Linux accessible to the average user like me, but it seems like some more monitoring is in order to see how they implement the new Software Centre.
