hey instead of some of you complaining like all the time on myADSL and saying "if they don't blah blah by the blah blah I will cancel", I just thought I should tell you all to get ADSL. iBurst just isn't for some people, some of us have a good experience with soem hiccups of course and some of you are obviously getting scammed, so why not make the smart move and just go get ADSL.

Stop trying to make a movement (I have heard the words "march to WBS" at least 10 times before from angry customers, which seems entirely corny to me).

And I am not posting this cuz I care about your consumer rights I am just sick of reradign the same stupid complaints over and over again. Sell the modem or cancel whatever contract you had, get ADSL, free up the bandwith for those of us who can use it and STFU. kthx
 
Well there are a bunch of annoyed people in here and yeah i'd have to agree,if you're not happy then cancell the contract.....

Enjoy the flaming to come slim.... :D
 
Perhaps Slimothy you should begin to realise that MyADSL is a consumerism Forum...

Once that idea is seeded in your stubborn mind you will begin to realise that it WAS myADSL users who cause the four day conference with Telkom and ICASA.

it WAS myADSL users who got Sentech into trouble from the ASA...

Companies should be held accountable for the fsck up's and if you dont like it then live with it...

slimothy, for once, PLEASE try and be less selfish. You might think the following does not relate at all about this, but it does, because if you had an INKLING of an idea, you wouldn't say what you just said.

Not everyone is able to get ADSL. Point. I'm one of those people. Not everyone is able to afford ADSL. Point. Although I can afford it, most people (if you've read up on Telkom for the past several years you'd know this) had to cancel their phone lines because it became too expensive for them.

Now, I think you have the potential to be a good person and a friend, but your attitude lately has left me to wonder how this reflects in your personal life. I bet you're very lonley and want attention, which you're probably getting from these forums, but I've had several discussions where, when your name came out, people tend to refer to you by odd names which I do not want to repeat.

Sure, you can't get everyone to like you, and there's more than a couple of people who hates me in fact, but with you it seems that no one (not newnie) likes you. Please change your attitude.

You're like that one dude on the Mens Health forums (and who called in yesterday to that talk show) who b1tches and moans about circumsition and how wrong it is. If you don't WANT to acknowledge someone elses opinions, or debate with them without forcing YOUR opinion on them, then leave.

of course if you're not having play time and you are infact spending money on a connection you use to make money (you know... work) then it seems entirley stupid to keep the connection and keep paying every month for crap service just so you can make a change while your business sinks down the toilet.

and vowthorn, you've threatened at least 4 occasions, "if they don't fix it by friday i'm cancelling" and then ofcourse who could forget when you told everyone you had cancelled the contract which was an outright lie and you are still on the service today. Has anything changed? did any WBS employee read it and say "oh no we better fix or he's gonna get adsl", heck no. Infact they probably think you're fulla **** now and just bluff anytime you get a little antsy, kinda like a kid
 
BTW if you can't get ADSL, get dial up, get satelite links get 3g, make a plan and move on.

and this is totally what I expected, flames coming from the peopel who threaten to leave but never do.
 
slimothy: Dude, back the hell off. I met with shaun today, and he informed me that its only "30%" of the users effected (i think this was a real generous estimate), but at least 30% of us are having major issues.

We can IRC, we can MSN, we have real crap and stuttered services. Ive been on iburst I imagine for longer than you, and have seen everything. This is the worst I have had to experience. If you have a problem with us standing up for our rights, then mission of to another forum which has nothing to do with consumer rights.

Ffs, ure not the one loosing lots of money every day due to really bad service

Actually I was drunk...
And if I threaten another 8 times and lie about cancelling what are you gooing to do crack your Slimothy whip? Get real dude... the universe does not rotate around you (shock!)... Fact is I have seen you belittle alot of new commers to this forum... which I think is uncool for the greater good of this forum.

And I think alot of people will agree with me that you are sometimes a little too arrogant for your own good.
 
i didn't say you werent experiencing the problem, I am saying if you are constantly getting screwed why not make the switch, ADSL today isn't what it was a year ago and its obvious its the best broadband service.

I think you need to read my post Pan because I'm saying if you are LOSING money then it makes no sense what-so-ever to stick with WBS.

30%...? That's a seriously generous estimate,everyone i know on Iburst is heving probs and that excludes ppl on this forum.

And btw it's "lose"........."loose" is like a loose wheel or something (soz,just my pet hate to see loose=lose) :D
 
I say this: If you get crap service then complain right here on MyADSL so that everyone can see, incl. potential WBS customers. Imagine what the business users are going through right now.

Nuff said.
 
wait actually before this goes any further, I don't want people who dislike me to use this as a platform to try say some crap to me, you can use PM if you want to do that.

This thread is about wether it makes sense to sit around and wait for better days or get ADSL (which besides speed is a superior product), so please make sure your comments releate to that, I know you've heard me say things in the past so you want to get back at me for whatever I said, but this is about waiting for the sunshine to come back or goign with ADSL (which will be 1mbit by June)

please PM everythign else because this is no place for it and flame wars are not contructive to anyone
 
Well you can either get a different service or you can stick it out and hope for better days. The only consistent will be people complaining about the poor service levels.

If people don't complain things don’t get better. It is after all the penalty system of commerce: bad publicity. :D

As a new commer i would just like to thank Slim for all his advice/support/sollutions on Iburst.
 
slimothy, iBurst is now 1 Mbit :-) also it is portable, it is cheaper (for up to 3GB package) and does not suffer from the "no international" problem after the cap ...
so the only thing better about the ADSL is that it does not count the local bandwith toward the cap ... so no use to me and many other people that use it mostly for international! Besides that one have to deal with the absolute idiots at Telkom which are so brain damaged that they hardly can open a dial-up account for a week (know that from experience) not to mention ADSL account!

So, I think, as far as what you get for your money iBurst is far superior than ADSL! The problems in both cases come from the companies that offer them, and from the bloody idiotic SA regulations that are made to keep monopoly up and running so certain people can make a lot of money!

I am very happy from iBurst from speed and reliability of the connection point of view. The problems I am having are related to the protocols that do not work (ICQ, MSN, IRC, eMule, DC++ etc etc., will try VPN tonight), and I am convinced that this is related to their setup and it is not the technology. They just got too far away with trying to restrict people using p2p etc. which sucks! So if they fix that so I can use my 64 Kbits connection (I am past the cap already) as I want to, I will be one perfectly happy customer, otherwise I am going back to my modem ... yes right my modem! I will not get ADSL until the bloody telkom burns down and some other company start offering decent ADSL on decent price with decent service!

I don't actually sit on one tower the whole time, the tower I use at home does have alot of users these days and during the day if I use iBurst (ussually I don't I rather use ADSL cuz someone else pays for the bandwith with it) then I am on the exact same towers you guys are. Anyways I thought you of all people should understand what I'm saying, you have on countless occasions said you were gettign ADSL because WBS sucks the winky, so do it dude, rather than being unhappy just make the switch and give WBS the finger
