Shucks I don't think it's as easy as that because our SA social grants are not great, I think other factors come into play more here ... like they will be seen as a more attractive marriage partner because they are fertile perhaps. But I don't know of many men who want to take on another man's child. Find it all very perplexing and a bit confusing to say the least ... suspect the reasons for 'breeding like rabbits' are not 100% rational (to me at least)

It is not so long ago that young girls, as young as 12 years old were married and having children. To my reasoning this is NOT unnatural behaviour but something that modern civilization has labelled as abnormal.

Nowadays, our children have to go to school untill the age of 18 and after that study untill they are 22. And we really expect them the abstinate?

Not quite rational I would say. I believe that children nowadays are going through a lot of stress and peer pressure, and to simply ridicule them this way is not the way to go.

Is it really that wrong - given past history of our forefathers - to have sex at a young age? And having babies?

The problem here is really affordability. They don't realize what a baby can really cost. And for some, pregnancy is an escape from more horrifying circumstances at home.

No wonder AIDS is so rife in the country. There was a story on the radio today about the police being called to Lusikisiki to investigate and retrieve a baby from a long drop toilet, apparently a 18 year old girl has been taken into custody. Who can do that to a living being that has been growing inside you for 9 months. Nothing more than barbaric.

Weird to think that if just one generation could avoid passing on the HIV then humanity ould be rid of it for good.

Look at the hippies of the 60's highly active in protesting the Vietnam war.

Look young South Africans in the 70's and 80's highly active in protesting aparthied.

Three decades of young people fired up and ready to make changes in the world, fighting the biggest threats of their generations.

Look at young adults of the 90's and 2000's - ignorant, uneducated, drooling in front of MTV or Playstation and killing each other through stupidity whilst thinking of more things to buy, unphazed by the invasion of Iraq, concerned only with The Mall and Brangelina.

Shame on us we dont deserve to survive this pandemic much less the threat of WW3.
