I just looked through my records and realised that I last withdrew cash at an ATM on 31 Oct 2021.

I seem to have gone cashless without realising it.

If it were not for my wife, carguards and the like would starve. Even the parking attendants in Stellenbosch take card payments and vendors who don't have card machines will take SnapScan or equivalent. My occasional garden engineer is paid via EFT.

Does anyone else still handle cash?

Wow really Does anyone else not draw money?
I still draw money

Looking at this months bank balance, I'm about to go cashless too, albeit for differing reasons.

In China, I'm cashless - you use a phone to pay for everything. Always have issues coming back here for the first week or two back in the banking past, where I forget my wallet, and go oh fok, and can't pay.

I've been cashless for two years now and recently I've also gone walletless because of the glorious Google Pay app for Android. Bless those angels for bringing that to this country.
I just take my phone or Garmin watch now and it handles everything.

My ultimate ambition would be to:
1) get a car that doesn't require a physical key
2) replace the locks at my home to smart locks that don't require a key
3) Automate gate and garage, maybe put a button in the car or something

If I can do that then my pockets will be free forever except for carrying a phone. One day.

A while ago I posted a list of the most popular banks and Investec is the second to worst bank in South Africa

I added the thread in here
