I would like to get in touch with Amiga users in South Africa, I was surprised to learn they still exist over here. Furthermore I would like to buy one [preferably Amiga 1200 or 600], but I am not interested in importing (not really interested in emulation either).

Weird people on the internet for sure. Why are you going so cutting edge. What's wrong with a commodore 64? Or a Vic 20

ponder... is gonna go all misty eyed and get nostalgic now!

@etienne good luck... hope you find some to resurrect. I still have my Amiga 500 user manuals you can borrow if ya need 'em.

imranpanji: Because my AMD64 is booooring. I had a VIC 20, would go for that as well if priced decently. Sadly skipped the C=64 but would go for that as well. Going for Amiga though because I want to do some 68K assembly on the real thing, can't explain it but it's just not the same on other platforms.

@issues Thanks again, hate the damned exchange rate :P but I may consider something along that line

Ow man, those were days I'd miss. You'd miss entire days waiting for the tape drive to spin up with the latest program off the self. You call it a coffee break, not rely when you finish the entire pot of coffee waiting. Jokes aside I miss my Commodore 64, my dad sold his/mine.

Good series "Halt and Catch Fire" to watch

The 1200 is nice as there is still lots of modern hardware accessories being made & sold for it, usb adapters, ethernet cards, flicker fixers, accelerators etc etc etc Only issue is it's all a bit on the pricey side considering the crap value of our rand.

Check the charity shops dude!
I scored a Vic 20 for R20 at a charity shop.
Rubbish condition though and sticky keys.
Goes to show though whats lurking at charity shops.
