Going solid-state could make batteries safer and longer-lasting

Seen a similar article about half a year ago, the only question is WHEN will it materialize? and until giants like Apple and Samsung find the benefit for themselves to introduce such batteries, we can keep on "researching" as much as we want... Same scenario we seeing with car parts and quality of clothe

At least they've done the groundwork for further research unlike all the stories of next gen batteries that has yet to materialise in any way. I don't doubt that this is going to be a huge leap at some point like harddisks increased 20 times in size with perpendicular storage.

This ^^ .. the nature of R&D is that if you can hold off before bringing it to the public, you do ... You need to maximise returns on current techonogy sales, as you are recoviring profits from previous R&D .. Im sure these guys now sit on a caseload of patents, making it impossible for anyone else to push this tech, and its to the detriment of progress ... so sad

This is what I have been asking for decades, I am so glad to see proper research and testing being done to improve the battery, it always felt that everyone wants to pop the most advanced over powered hardware into today's devices but the battery tech to power all of it pretty much stayed the same with some minor improvements here and there.
