Golf 5 - Bargain?

What's a Golf salary? :erm:

Lol was just wondering that. Not like the guy is asking to buy a Porsche. I don't think he should have mentioned his salary at all because people seem to be judging him on it rather than offering advice on the car.

My advice would be that the car is awesome, and at a fair price. However he will struggle financially to maintain it with that salary, no doubt.

However, if his greatest passion is to own a Golf 5 then go for it.

I cannot understand why peopel are saying this is an expensive car to maintain. In the 5 years ive owned by 1.9 tdi dsg I have had zero problems. It runs fantastically - if you treat the car well i see no reason why he should have problems. Change oil on time, change belts when theyre due for changing and u should be fine.

Also, the MKV tdi has no diesel particulate filter so no issues with clogging either.

Sorry for not updating.
Mentioned salary because I thought that was the norm. Stay with a lover in flat and expenses are R8000 for food, internet and rent. R22k is gross. Nett is R19k.

Is this an expensive car to drive? Already own a tazz and looking for a weekend car and a car for traffic on occasion.

that dsg box is expensive to fix should something happen.
why not get a HONDA!
:-)

Eish, Golf 5? Its a bit kommin don't ya think? Look around for a OPC or GTC in that same price range, it will most certainly come with lower mileage.
