Golf 5 Gti Air-con Compressor

Hi Guys

My car is in need of air con compressor change which does not come cheap. VW quoted me about R14000:wtf: Goldwagen R8000:wtf: Is there any other place I should look at for a cheaper one? and which generic ones should I stay away from ?

I was also recently quoted for a new compressor on my Jetta 4. Took it to a radio place in Somerset west (I know, a long drive for you) and they told me it is just the valve at the compressor which is faulty. Cost about R550 excluding labour to have it replaced and the aircon is good as new. Maybe get a second opinion.

Could be the clutch on the compressor. Go to a Bosch Agent and see if they can recon it for you,

I seriously hope its the same for me, as I am still getting cold air from the air con.
