I was wondering the other day, other than the Gti, you hardly see any Golf 6's on the road. . . . . I saw a 6 Tdi 2 days ago and was amazed, first one I have ever seen since it's release. I see the odd Tsi but hardly ever.

I drive Golf Tdi and am a fan of the range, but honestly the pricing is a bit insane.

Have people finally changed their tastes due to the price of the Golf?

NAAMSA figures for Feb:

FORD Focus 314
HONDA Civic 228
OPEL Astra/GTC 153
BMW 1-Series 327
RENAULT Megane III 99
VOLVO C30 49
VW Golf 6 648

Seems not. ;)

It could be the pricing. Entry level Golf 6 with no optional extras is R220 000.
One can buy some decent second hand luxury cars for that price and there are other manufacturers with models in that price range that at larger and offer more features standard.
With VW you have to pay through your nose for extras.

I have to agree with Grimspoon, when the V GTI was released, every second on the road was one...

That is weird.

Maybe I am just not looking properly :p

But seriously I hardly see any on the roads.

I mean I remember when the 5 was released, they were all over the show. Still are.

you're not not looking properly. i also see way more gti6's than other golf 6's.

It was the same with the V - more GTIs than normal ones.

I think there's an element of the normal Golfs just being very nondescript. From several years working at various VW dealers I can say with fair certainty that the normal derivatives sell in much higher numbers than GTIs, probably to the order of 5 to 1 or more.

Most of them are in Cape Town, where you'll also find all the cool people. ;)

How the heck do captonians afford the Golf 6? :p :D

Easy!

The Gautengers also want to be cool, so they book places in Cape Town over December & January & we provide them with "December" menus at restaurants and pubs.

Then when all the Gautengers go back to the lost land, the owners and managers of all these hotels, guest houses, restaurants & pubs go to the local VW dealer to buy a Golf 6 cash. :p

A lot more 6's got sold but they are standing in the owners garage. After his installment he can't afford petrol or insurance.

Being a VW, and thus guaranteed not to rust for 12 years, at least it will still be in one piece once the owner's saved up some fuel money. :D
