Golf 7 GTI

I was thinking about trolling this thread but the G7 GTI actually looks pretty good. Glad to see they have done away with those tacky/brash rims that were on the G5 & G6.

My money would still be on a F30 though but that's more of a matter of taste than anything else.

I wouldn't mind driving this thing. And the pricing is not add bag as I imagined. Now if only I could land that job ;)

I went to see this beauty today. I must say its more beautiful in metal than on pictures. I love it. I'd still buy this over an A250 , A250 looks nicer but this is a GTI. Focus ST might have more power and be cheaper but give me a GTI at any given day.

Limited Slip Diff I believe.

This coming with only a service plan standard? If true that is just plain insulting.

Saw one yesterday at VW. Couple of nice / minor improvements over the MK6.
- Electronic handbrake and Hillhold assist (even for the manual)
- Car turns off automatically when stopping and turns back on when releasing the brake
- Cup-holders seem to be a bit better
- Seems they've brought back the drawers under the seats that used to be in the GTI5 but got removed in the GTI6.
- 7kW + 70Nm more torque and almost 2L/100km fuel improvement

Limited Slip Diff I believe.
And bigger brake discs I think.
Performance Pack doesn't seem to be an option for SA though

Only comes with service plan.

The mk6 came with a 5yr/90k service plan and the mk5 came with a 60k motor plan.

The performance pack gets an e-diff and bigger brakes.

What it wrong with keyless entry?

After 6 months using it I love it and will definately be on my list of options for my next car. It become natural to simply grab the hadle to open the car and second nature to press the lock button as I leave.

As for this or A250, my choice would be the merc for sure at what - only R20k more expensive?

Anymore info on the brakes, bigger discs and callipers, 4pot callipers?
Can an LSD increase it to 10hp?

Keyless entry is a novelty I wouldn't pay extra for, especially not with the risk factor of the golf.

Yes it's fwd. Lsd will not increase power.
And yeah I'd take the merc

So what's adding 10hp, doubt it's software.

Software and possibly a sportier exhaust? Why would you doubt it's software?
The only difference between the 177kW Leon Cupra motor and the 188kW S3 motor is software

So you'd go for the cheaper, slower, less refined ugly option? :D

I agree on 2 of the 3, not so sure its slower than the GTI. Would probably close enough on either side that it doesnt make much difference.

On a note, the focus ST facelift is already scheduled for 2014, and that looks really ugly. I would like to test drive the GTI DSG to see if its worth the cash

The 6 also hand hill hold assist on manual boxes.

The DSG turns back on when releasing the brake, the manual starts when you depress the clutch.

Man I miss those drawers in my 6

The standard model comes with an EDiff and XDS whatever that is:
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Brake Assist and Electronic Differential Lock (EDL)
Transverse differential lock (XDS)
