Golf 7 motorplan - extend or not?

I have used this product and I can say its a good to have. I have had multiple items replaced including wipers and brakes and a Xenon bulb without paying anything out of pocket.

That's very encouraging, will ask for a copy of what exactly is covered.

R11k is not bad actually. I wonder what it would cost to extend kilometers. I still have motorplan until August 2019, but I'm already on 74 000km. So only have about 26k km's left. This is on a B7 Passat.

How much do you think it should cost to add km's? The car haven't had any claims on motorplan except for normal services, DSG service as well as brakes and wipers at 60k km. Would it even be worth it to extend instead of just paying cash for future maintenance?

Insurance is R800 pm, add the motorplan and the car is costing R1 250 pm before petrol etc.

this excludes any cash deficit you will incur when you sell the car for less than what you bought it for, and if you bought it on credit there are interest charges also to take into account

Very true saturnz and those things are often missed.

I paid cash and don't know what I'll do with it in 2024, definitely won't score money wise but I will have enjoyed it for 10 years

Some guys here laugh at people paying cash for a vehicle but I hate, hate, hate debt and despise paying interest. I just want to buy the thing and be done with it.

I wouldn't extend the warranty... you don't drive the car enough to make me think that you'll have issues amounting to 11k in the next two years. Of course, things can go wrong and 11k isn't much considering the piece of mind it gives

This is how I'm thinking - driving in JHB's a nightmare, even over short distances. The car wasn't cheap so another the 11k might be money well spent.

The motorplan on my 2014 Golf 7 expires in March 2017. VW charge R11 000 to extend it for another 2 years plus R1 300 to check the car.

It's had no problems apart from a rattle in the passenger door which the little sh$t mechanic said he didn't have to time to look for when the car went in for annual service

extend - sounds superstitious but the **** seems to hit the fan after warranties expire

Except tyres everything is covered. They even pay for your wheel alignment every however KMs you do it

Pretty sure I'll go for it even though I don't travel much, would rather spend the money and have peace of mind than worry about something expensive going wrong. Like isie says things seem to fall apart just after the warranty expires. It's a turbo engine too.

Be prepared for a R500 odd admin fee from the dealer scum when extending. That's what they quoted me when I wanted to extend automotion maintenance plan on my old Jetta 5. That car came with a 5yr/60k km.

If your car was trouble free all this time, then it's very safe to say nothing will go wrong as long as you service it on time. 2 years is nothing.

Did you have the vw automotion maintenance plan? Or just the std service plan and warranty?

Either way I wouldn't extend it, not at that low mileage. There are plenty of good independent guys that can sort these cars out if anything does go wrong.

Actually 11k for extending the vw automotion plan is not bad. If it's just a warranty/service plan then save your cash rather.

I strongly disagree, new cars have been built to be obsolete within a short period, so as to force you to buy a new car.

I would not take the risk with a new car, get a quote on a fuel pump, oil pump and a water pump replacement and then make a judgement call based on that.

Hi rodga, have the standard 5 yr service plan plus motorplan which expires in March.

VW have quoted on AutoMotion plan for another 2 years.

Will look out for R500 administration fee

Colleague looked at the documents from when he bought a car 4 years ago. They charged R1 500 administration fee to draw up the agreement (((( he didn't notice it at the time.

Is too strongly disagree with your opinion. It's just a nice Golf with good components, nothing fancy like the higher end models fitted with the parts that would be obsolete in a short span of time.

He has very low mileage which doesn't warrant an extension. In 2 years time he'd have done an additional 15k km's , which is one more basic service and I'm sure he ain't a rough rider, that's why he didn't do any major repairs to date.
