I mentioned previously, my theory is that carbon build up is mainly from use of EGR in modern engines, combined with the lack of port injection cleaning valves. Many have other theories such as CCV allowing excess oil in to intakes which may or may not have an impact. One thing is certain, the lack of port injection has revealed an issue we never knew we were going to have.

My comment around worse carbon build up in cars used for short trips is a bit misleading, my theory is that cars used for a lot of short trips worsens the issue. Since EGR is used more in initial warm up, a car used for a lot of short trips where the engine doesn't get up to operating temperature and stay there, the EGR is used more often.
 
Brothers, for the life of me I can’t figure out how to clear the “Check oil level” warning light on my Golf 7.

The oil level was low, but I topped it up a few days ago and the warning light is still there! Is there anyway to clear this light without plugging in an OBD scanner?

Oil warning light can also be for low oil pressure.
