I've been told that mk2 Golf parts are easy to come by and repairs are easy, is this the case for mk3s as well? how much more expensive would it be to maintain a mk3 by yourself as compared to a mk2?

Things like engine maintenance, body trim...

they pretty much the same car, except the body panels are bit different.

in terms of engine, drivetrain, suspension, a mk2 and a mk3 of the same model will be very similar.

I dont think that one would be much more expensive than the other, as there are lots of both cars on the road.

Why not look at a polo thou?

nah not interested in a polo, but thanks though good to know they're not that different.

The mk3 engine parts get a lot more expensive after around '96 or '97 when they switched to fuel injection on all models. You'll pay close to double for an engine rebuild on the fuel injection models.

True what Colin69 just said. But ive noticed pricing differs greatly as to where u live. Here in PE (VWSA) is just around the corner, prices of VW parts are generally much better than anywhere else.
