Are you sure? Pretty sure when I was shopping around for a GTi last year (not the 35) , the LED lights were available.

Relatively sure. As far as I know the standard GTI hasn't changed since launch. They've only added the 35ed and Cabriolet models (of which both came with LEDs). I've yet to see a standard GTI with LED lights.

You mean standard and not a selected option I take it?
Because the LED was an option on the normal GTi, it was standard (Free) on the ED35.

I guess they made it available as an option later on, but in 2010 (when I bought mine) it was not available as an option. So it seems I was wrong on that point.
Luckily on the GTI 7, it seems that LED lights comes with the Xenon lights so I will finally have it myself when my car arrives.

When I was at VW Claremont the sales guy said the new gti doesn't come with LED lights on the front.

I asked, how does the Gti 7 compare to the 35ED in terms of performance . Considering the lower KW but higher Torque, lighter weight etc.
