Golf vs new Focus

I test drove the new focus tdci, and it let me down in everyway, quality is not on par with the golf, neither is the handling. I got back in my Golf 5 2.0tdi and it just reassured me how damn good my car really is. You cannot go wrong with a golf, they really are worth that little bit extra and resale will be much better too. Ford offered me 15k over trade for mine.

Maybe get in your Golf 5 2.0tdi and head on over to your nearest GM dealer to test the new Astra. You might just be surprised as to how the other German mainstream car manufacturer has progressed beyond what is consider the "class leading benchmark".

Honest question - do Opels still have that "rubbery" feel when changing gears in a manual?

Not the newer ones no, I do experience it in my old Astra G but not in the newer Corsa D. Perhaps it has been sorted since Astra H? I am pretty sure the new Astra I will have a shift as smooth (if not smoother) than in the Corsa D.

But that is a very good question, Opels have always had that issue of notchy and rubbery gear shifts.

haha i know exactly what you're talking about. NO they dont that was utter sheat i hated it! The manual in the new Astra is VERY VERY nice perfect feel notchy but smooth and snappy. The new Astra's gear lever actually has a nice weighted quality feel to it, I like it.

IMO Mazda's have the best manual shifts... just perfect, short throw, snappy just the right amount of resistance.
