Hey guys, I hate my 15" LCD :(

What would I pay for a good 19" widescreen LCD?

Oh and what are the pros and cons of a widescreen? Will my games and movies all play in widescreen?

Thanks!

no idea about the 19" WLCDs. You can get a 20" WLCD for about R2,500.

Your games will display in widescreen IF the game supports the resolution.
Your movies won't automatically transform to widescreen. Widescreen movies that you have will fill the screen better (the black bars usually displayed above and below the video content will either be thinner or gone altogether.)

My 20" WLCD is nice for my line of work (technical IT architecturing). Lotsa drawings and documents. You have more space to work in (in one dimension). You can have 2 documents open side by side.

Edit: the 20" FP202W howardb mentioned is what I have.

Hi halicon, I have a BenQ FP91G+ and a BenQ FP71GX and both seem to be fine for what I need them for - I don't really use them for gaming so I wouldn't be able to comment on how they perform with the latest games - mainly used for video work and have no problems - crystal clear, no artifacts/breakup and colours seem very good...
I haven't used any other brands to date so am unable to compare...
Cheers,
HB

I have a Philips, had it for 18 months, it's great, just the damn size :(

Maybe I should wait till the price of the 20" has dropped. I really want that 1680 x 1050 resolution!

I'm currently loving my Packard Bell :D Black with a brushed silverish base. Beautiful.

I've always been impressed with Sony, ViewSonic & Samsung.

Those are my choices for PC LCD displays...

I have a 19" Samsung LCD that i use for gaming.
It is superb.

scotty777, some of us are on a bit of a budget u know :P and if you saying go for a 23", why not just go all out and get Apple CinemaHD 30" ? Now that is indeed one brilliant monitor if i say so myself...

Chicks aren't interested in 23" screens.

With the savings I could put a decent sound system in my car! :D

Dunno how the others feel, but my Acer 1916w 19" monitor works well enough for me - and I've seen it for less than R2000...
