Was just browsing a classifieds and noticed a Canon 7D and 24-105mm lens (2 months old) for R20,000.00 - which I think is a decent price for that?

Just a FYI for those maybe looking for a camera

Very good price, retails for R26,500 combined at Orms Direct.

I'm always a bit sceptical though about 2nd electronics, especially in this price range. But that's just me. :)

And 24mm is fairly long for the wide-end on crop. I would much rather go for the the 7D + 15-85 combo new at R21,000.

I'm always sceptical when I see an actuation count for a canon camera, since there's no easy way to prove it.

But can prove the two months and he shouldn't have got too many in that time ;)

I'm scared about used as well - but the thing is you get some good deals :(

bwana - looking at selling your 7D yet? ;)

1500 shots in two months? Is that a reasonable amount of usage in that short time period?

Depends - I took 1600 on Friday . . . :D

Nope, can't until I'm ready to replace it and I've got my eye on a lens first.

Why is it difficult to prove? Can the shutter count be reset? I know EOSInfo tells you how many but do you know something we don't?

Have you tried EOSInfo with the 7d, or any recent (by that I mean pre400d)? ;)

The 7D shows a shutter count under the battery info. Is this count since the last battery charge or for the camera itself?

Yeah, used it on my 450D, 40D and 50D with latest firmwares. Got a shutter count on all 3.
It doesn't work with the 400d, 7d, and 1dmk3, that much I can tell you.

thats just the. Number of actuations since you've charged the battery. Interestingly it alternates between batteries for each shot when using a grip.

Are you in the market for a thoroughly used 7D? :D
Let's call it well tested ;)

Interesting. What does it show with the battery grip and two batteries?

I may be soon. :) Right now I'm trying to decide which of my bodies to sell in order to finance a new body, the 7D or my 1DmkIII.

I see. Is the 1DmkIII lacking in some respect? Or have you simply busted the MTBF on the shutter? :D
