anyone suggest a good freeware email client ?

Why would you put "not OE" in your title when you already asked for something freeware?

Anyway, thunderbird.

Windows Live Mail... but it might be a little bit too much like OE for your tastes. Not a bad client though.

Tbird is is pretty bloody good considering its free but one thing that drives me up the wall about it is that you can't set it to automatically put your signature into the message where you started typing, it just throws it in right at the bottom so either have to cut and paste, or leave it there and everytime you reply it just adds another sig onto the bottom which ends up looking rather stupid, anyone know how to fix this?

One of the reasons I dumped TB:(.

No there is a way to configure the signature to come up at the top of a reply... I can't remember off the top of my head, not using tbird anymore, but you can do it

Has anyone used the email client in Opera browser? Only discovered it the other day.

Thunderbird is great. The only problem I have with it is that it does not have the option to show a list of messages on the server and let you choose which ones to download.

The Bat is very good in this respect, but is not free.
