Howdy,

I wonder if anyone can recommend a good gastroenterologist in Jhb, preferably the north, fourways etc.

I suffer from the acute heart burn and have been on strong medication which helps, but ultimately I need to get this sorted out. I fear I may have a ulcer or something to that effect.

I have seen a gastroenterologist but really wasn't happy with my consultation. He said I have to have a scope to see what is potting.

Any recommendations much appreciated. :)

You'll have to do a scope regardless of which one you pick.

Yip buddy scope it is...everyone will tell you that...
I'm currently with Dr Kassianides at Morningside hospital, he is the head of the heartburn association...he also doesn't believe to cut you up like the rest of them...
I've had the Nissen op done by a previous dr and would not recommend it. Change your lifestyle while you can...
Good luck...

Thanks man, funnily enough Kassianides was the doc I wen't to. Really wasn't happy with the consultation overall. Maybe he was having an off day, dunno.

I know I have to have a scope, not really to worried about that. I have heard having an op is the very last resort.

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Apostol Pappas, who is a gastroenterologist who practices at Mayo 2 Clinic, Flora Clinic. His office number is (011) 475 8030 or (011) 475 8040

My mom likes Dr Deon de Vos at the Mayo Clinic.
