A mate of mine has a Nexus 9 tablet. Last night, he discovered that it has a hairline crack in the glass. He only noticed it after an hour of use, but it's from edge to edge. No idea how it got there, but he's absolutely heart-broken. And he refuses to live with it like that, so he's already ordered a new one! Crazy, if you ask me.

Anyway, is there a market for a broken tablet like this? It's still in perfect working order (it's barely a month old!) and it's a helluva nice tablet. Seems like a waste to toss it in a cupboard never to be turned on again.

Hey guys,

OP's friend here; I'm the unfortunate owner.

Fudzy thought he'd ask for me to see if there was a market for these things, I haven't really thought about what sort of price I could ask for a "broken" tablet. The reality is, the tablet is still 100% functional - I literally used it for an hour in bed last night before noticing the crack. When viewed direct-on, you cannot see it. But from an angle it's there, and it's pretty big. It stretches from the bottom right area to the top left, edge to edge. I suspect my 15-month old son bashed it with something whilst it was next to my bed, probably through the leather cover it was in and I thought nothing of it at the time. I will try take a photo this evening.

It's heart-breaking for me, as I've gone to great lengths to look after the thing and I absolutely love it. I can't bear to have it cracked like that though, so I've ordered another. Now the question is whether I send it back to Amazon to have it repaired and then sell, or find someone who is prepared to buy it "as is" (either to fix themselves, or simply someone that doesn't mind the crack). It would be nice to recoup some of the costs of a new one, but I'm not going to sell it for next-to-nothing when I could rather give it to my wife or other family member.

Is someone wants to make me an offer, send me a PM. Otherwise, any advice is appreciated.

proline=R400 to fix.

Are you saying Proline would fix my Nexus 9 for R400? Or are you saying that you had your Proline tablet repaired for that price?

The issue is that you cannot buy Nexus 9s in this country, so you certainly cannot get the parts without importing them. And even if I had the parts, I wouldn't know who to take them to in order to actually perform the job.

This is a problem for the guy that buys my broken tablet. ;)

I will give you a 1000 rondt now o pal. Kyk saam 'n man.

Plus me and Fudzy go waaaaaaaaaay back to last year where we spoke about cars :p

If it's not a bad crack why not just put a protector over it and keep using it
