Hey peeps

not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes

Iam finaly getting rid of my Iworst next week tuesday and getting in a 4meg Telkom line, can anybody suggest a good ISP? i do raid alot on wow 25man and iam sooooooo sick of iburst and its latency issues and dont want to have to go thourgh a 100 ISP before i find a decent one :erm:

I gave tell you what I use. I make use of 2 ISPs.

Afrihost + a proxy (gordon) and usually get around 300ms in 25 man raids (this is my cheap option)
Cybersmart + proxy and usually get around 240ms in 25 man raids so far (not been using it that long)

omg 300ms i wanna cry i never seen latency that low lol. On iworst i hang around 700 -1000ms with lag spikes accuring every 3-5 secs. i have bought a gamemax account for when i get my telkom line, Is this proxy server From Gorden a better option?

Used Gamemax @ a stage last here. It gave me DC's (it works fine for some)
Then I changed to lowerping & gamemax and they worked fine.
Atm I'm using Gordon

But I'l skrewed atm as the SAT3 cable is broken

I use the Telkom DoBroadband level 3 system and I have never had a problem in 25 man raids. My latency is usually between 450-500 MS and that is perfectly acceptable if you are a DPS. I don't make use of proxies or other tunneling software either. My connection only drops when I reach my 3GB cap, but the top up takes less than one minute if you know what you are doing.

Using the search function you would find at least 15 threads of people who has dropped their wireless for ADSL and asked which ISP they should go with.....

*sigh*

But +1 to Web Africa. Their shaped lines act as unshaped for WoW and will get you a solid ping day/night of about 300ms depending on line quality. I get about 260ms usually on my 384k

Webafrica on their new network is freaking amazing. I average 400ms (better than Axxess 626 unshaped). So you i would recommend them

Sounds awesome!

How long you wait to get that up and running? What does it cost?

Well, if you already have a phone line at your place, then you just get the ADSL circuit installed with cybersmart and Robert's your father's brother.

From joining to getting the circuit installed by telkom took a week when i got it. As soon as that's done, they just verify and then you're done.

If you don't have a phone line already, then....be prepared to wait for telkom to take their sweet time.

Costs: The standard package (384 circuit+3GB cap) goes for R259 p/m.
If you do plan going to them, be sure to take the nightrider package too.

Webafrica Unshaped...or if you always play after hours, Afrihost (R29/gig). I got an average 290ms last night on it while raiding 25man ICC :D

For every other day/time, I use my Webafrica Unshaped and get an average 260ms :D
