Hi

Im thinking of getting an LCD display typically 17" and in the R2500 price range.
What models and makes should I look out for in terms of response time for gaming. I saw a viewsonic at viva computers with a response time of 25ms
and a price of R2499 is tis good for gaming?

I've got a viewsonic 19" with a 8ms response time - what a joy to have. Excellent for gaming. I think the 25ms is not quite good enough for gaming though...

aye, look for something in the 8-12ms range. funny though, i have had my 24ms LCD for over 2 years and it doesnt affect me much. or am i too old to notice? :p

Which stores supply 8ms? viewsonic lcd's. Im in cape town. Wanna go check them out.:)

I have a 8ms Philips; If your coming from a CRT enviroment it will feel choppy; but once you get used to it 8ms is fine for gaming; idealy thow you'd want 4ms or lower (do thows exist ?) considering that CRT is something like 0.2ms.

I have the Viewsonic VX912 (8ms) response time and it handles games such as BF2 and CoD2 beautifully!

The thing is if your used too 120fps+ and you switch too 8ms lcd it looks "low fps" if that can describe it. After using the screen for so long now i dont even notice it any more, but it did take me some time too adjust. I think it might have something to do with the max refresh rate on the monitor; mine is only 75 so I'm prolly only geting 75fps out of it. I don't have v-sync on. Its like visibly it seems like the games (fast fps like quake 3 etc) are slow but you can still feel that the game is rendering 120fps+.

Yes im used to playing games on my old pc at under 30 frames per second:o . Trying to move with the times now. Anyways i have no idea were to find these lcd's. The closest i came was cafe viva but thats the 25ms range. Otherwise ill have to go to makro.:(

Goto a supplier; NEVER buy from a retail store they usualy only stock the cheap crap. I got my Philips from Drive Control Center(I think thats what the place was called can't remember so well any more).

Drive Control Corporation :p

My only problem with LCD's is that they can't really do the silly resolutions that I want.

That and you realy need to keep them in their native resolution for best quality. :p

We stock the products that the supplers stock and you need to be a dealer with the supplyers to purchase from them...
