good mmo to play casually?

Real Life

Pros:
- The graphics are ultra-realistic
- Fully immersive gameplay (no Occulus Rift required!)
- Massive open world
- No loading zones
- Extremely low latency
- F2P - No locked content, although difficulty level is a random setting at character creation that you cannot change
- True sense of risk, Eve Online style. All of your assets can be lost and/or stolen.
- Completely player driven economy
- Can be enjoyed casually or you can go hardcore.
- Free DLC. I'm really looking forward to the space-travel one myself, but chances are my account will have expired by the time it releases :(

Cons:
- Consumes your life, even more so than WoW.
- Most professions are very grindy
- Steep learning curve
- No respawns
- No save/load function
- Extremely limited avatar customisability
- No clear path to the romance options

My only problem with this "game", is the pay to win concept, it really fscks with the most of us noobies.

I will 2nd SWTOR, had ome very fun times with it.

If you are brave enough, you can give Eve a bash, I personally rate Eve as the best MMO that I have played..... but darn-it it can be ruthless at times.

Will third this. If I had to them is be playing it again.
Being an adult is such a pain

I've been playing Dungeons and Dragons Online for years already and it's F2P with the option of going Premium or VIP.

No, please don't suggest DDO to anyone. I played it for about 2 years but lately it has just been too buggy and the populations are so low that it is difficult to find people to play with. At the moment the server I played on (Ghallanda) has been crashing for a few hours every day or so for over a month and Turbine are so rubbish they just can't figure out why. Then there are exploits which are rife.

Rather suggest sleeping with your mother-in-law or something.

Doesn't sound like you're actually interested in playing games. Just looking for a pointless time sink.

if you would like to put it that way then sure, ive grown up gaming since i was 6, its always been me and my pc not much friends so it really is just a time sink... but i prefer time sinks with nice mechanics and a somewhat interesting story.

and to greylor that game is the worst game ive ever played, the community is really mean, and it takes too long to finish if only there was also theres no quick and easy exit button if there were id use it tommorow :D

so i prefer my time sinks because this real life game has too many technical problems and i cant seem to find the right way to exit at the moment

I'm on Orien so matters little to me and while I may have held that view a few months back, it's changing. Exploits been non existent for 4-5 months odd, servers are being moved to a new data center, a new class on the way and 3 big updates before December. I've just renewed my VIP sub for Epic Vale and Shavarath alone.

Anyway, for growing up with DnD, there simply isn't another MMO close enough for me to enjoy. I get by with my guild and alliance of about 60 well enough.
