Hope someone can give me some insight before I pitch up at the local Tiger Wheel & Tyre during the week.

Noticed yesterday that my front tyres are worn as if I had a track day. Both tyres are like this only on the outside of each tyre.

Is this normal for a Goodyear tyre? In the last 10 years I only bought Michelins. The car came with the Goodyears when I bought the car. (Megane III dCI)
I'm not a boyracer, but do drive more aggressive than the normal driver.

When I bought my new Ford Focus in 2006 it had NCT5 tyres.

Most pathetic tyres I ever owned. Also had major issues on the inner walls. Also had pieces of rubber falling off as if it was an old tyre. The tyres' inner walls caused a "whistling" type of noise and even had us thinking that the bearings were shot!

Sent them (Goodyear) reports, photos, reports from 3 different tyre fitment outlets (Hi-Q, TWT and Supaquik). Report was acknowledged but got no response. 12000km later I replaced them and took all 4 tyres and dropped them off at the Goodyear gates in Uitenhage, making the production manager sign receipt for them. Over 8 years and still no response.

I will never use Goodyear again. EVER.

Won't buy Good Year again. Tried it on my old Land Cruiser and had to replace it within 2 years. My BFGs lasted for years and years. The little nipples were still on it after a year!

Must say that I also notice the "whistling" noise.
I tend to agree on your last statement.

Bad toe setting and excessive use of power steering.

NCT5 is a truly CR@p tire
